Swimming Lessons 2012

We did swimming lessons for the first two weeks of July.  The weather was VERY hot most days - lovely for the kids - not so lovely for the observers, but I guess that's the best way to have it.
Kylie and Summer were in a class together again this year and it works really well! They have a very positive impact on eachother.
Kylie kept asking to jump off the diving board . . . but I wasn't sure if she'd actually do it if they let her.  She did - but just the little one. She started climbing the tall one, and backed down the ladder pretty quick.
Summer did the little diving board AND the big one and she didn't even look scared!

Kevin never LOVES swimming lessons, but this year was just a little awkward for the poor boy.  Here's Kevin with his class of 7 others - all girls!!  (at least two of the instructors were guys).  Kevin resorted to hiding in the change room for the first part while his group went over life saving techniques.  He did this for a few days until I caught on to what was going on! (I don't blame the boy - things were rather awkward for a 11 year old boy, but I didn't want him to fail his level just because he had to put his arms around a girl!)
 Rescuing.
Kade LOVES the water and especially jumping, flipping, and diving.  He had the perfect instructor for him this year b/c she let them go in the diving pool EVERY day and do between 4-6 dives/jumps.

The two weeks were productive. All three kids passed their levels. They learned new things, tested their endurance, had their bodies pushed to do new strokes etc., had lots of fun, and stayed cool on some of the hot, hot, days of summer!
