Soccer 2013

Though we are well into this years soccer season, I always like to take and post their soccer pictures so they will remember what team they were on, what colour they were, what number they were, and how cute they looked:)
Kevin
Kevin is having another good year though I think the team has recorded only one win and perhaps a tie or two and then a whole lot of losses.  This must be Kevin's lot in life.  To his credit, he doesn't even care anymore (about losing). He still loves playing, loves scoring, loves interacting, and loves the game . . . and so that is good enough!! Last night he lost 9-1 and came off the field with a smile.   Far cry from 3 or 4 years ago!!
One of my favorite things about summer is watching Kevin play soccer . . . which is too bad for Kylie b/c they both play the same night . . . and guess who gets shafted;)

Kade
Kade is also on a team with more losses than wins, though I think the numbers are a little more balanced then Kevins.  Kade is coming along nicely. He has done his share of scoring and has good speed . . . but he is still the one with his hands in his pockets and the one that can be caught chatting once in a while. He just plays a different style of game than Kevin and that is okay!  He is getting funner to watch!

Kylie
I don't actually let her wear her hair down for soccer . . .she must have taken it out after the game and that just happened to be the night I did her and Kevin's pictures.
Kylie is developing well as a soccer player too. I don't see her in action a whole lot . . .b/c when ever I get to her field, she seems to be on an "off " shift.  But she does get herself in there and she has notched a goal or two . ..  though she is also easily distracted player.  She likes to check everyone out (and probably their shoes too) and that may or may not happen while she is on the field and supposed to be playing:)
She sure is a pretty player:)
Pictures from a different night . . .

Karter
Kevin showed Karter what soccer was all about a couple weeks ago and now he can often be seen chasing the ball around the yard.  Quite cute:)

Teeth . . . . Or Lack Thereof!

This first picture was taken at the beginning of June and shows a (basically) full mouth of teeth.  She has three baby teeth lost at this point, but they have grown back in (except the one you can see is still being worked on!)
Before her first front tooth came out, she could move it around all over the place in rather unsightly ways. We were actually relieved when it did come out . . . .even though I sure did love that baby toothed smile!
Halfway through June the first front tooth finally came out . . . in the grocery store after she bumped into a shelf or something when she wasn't watching where she was going!
The second one followed about a week and a half later and I was glad it did.  Two missing teeth is better than one . . . .symmetry you know?!
At this point, apple eating was quite the chore, but it didn't stop her! I think that's how she lost this one.
And then the bottom one came out two and now she looks like she has a mouth full of holes!  We love to tease her, and we think it is quite cute!
I was kind of hoping the way she talked would change because she didn't have the two teeth to push her tongue against.  It did only slightly. I hear it on her "S's" just slightly and it makes me smile every time.  I don't tell her though, b/c the first time I heard it, I asked her to repeat herself and then I laughed.  Big mistake. She thought I was making fun of her and she burst into tears. Now I just smile quietly to myself.

. . . my two front teeth . . . .except we think she is quite cute without them! Since we know it is such a short stage, we're just going to enjoy those big holes in her mouth.  We know they'll be filled up before long, and the replacements are just never quite as cute as those baby teeth that were lost!

African Lions Safari

Kindergarten through Grades 6 had their end of the year field trip at African Lions Safari (or Lyons Variety as Kylie kept calling it!)
B/c all three of my school kids were going, I was quick to volunteer as a chaperone.  I am so glad I got to go. What a fun day. I got to chaperone a group of five kindergarteners and they were really good and really fun . . . though I did a WHOLE lot of counting to five that day!! There were a lot of people there and I had to keep a close eye. They were really good at keeping their eye on me too!
We watched the elephant show . . which was a favourite.
We also watched the Birds of Prey show which was pretty neat. We had one of the birds swoop awfully close to our heads two times. It was funny watching our whole section madly duck as it came quite close!
(It wasn't this one!)

After the two shows, we made a short stop at the petting zoo and then it was off the the splash pad. We didn't have a whole lot of time by the time we had the school bus ride to the Safari and then the tour guided bus ride in the afternoon and of course EVERYONE wanted to do the splash pad, so off we went!

Waiting . . . .waiting . . . waiting . . . for the big bucket dump!
And there it was! (though obviously a different one than the one above:))
It was a beautiful day in terms of weather, but the water in the splashpad was FREEZING, so we were soon on our way out and had time to go through this obstacle course thing a few times before the bus tour.

This picture captures Kylie so well.
A quick bite of lunch . . .
. . . and then on the Safari bus for the animal tour.  I know animal pictures aren't always the most interesting thing for people who weren't actually there, but my kids love seeing them again and again, so I've got to include them too.  It was really funny being on the K-2 Safari bus and hearing all the comments and questions of the kids.  Lots of smiles.

It was fun to get to know some of Kylie's classmates - both on the bus rides there and back and with my own little group of five.  They are a really fun group.
