Konnor at Eight Months

Baby in constant motion is probably the best way to describe this stage.  He is on the go and happy about it. He is learning new things all the time and most often with a smile on his face . . .though of course there have been a few things learned with tears as well.
It certainly is fun watching them grow and go!
The dishwasher is a favorite hangout lately . . .
This started out as a happy thing .  . .
. . .but this looks more like a "I'm really losing patience with this now mom" kind of smile/cry!

As you can see he is constantly climbing up against things and enjoying the new views it gives him!

At eight months, Konnor:

  • has four teeth - three on the bottom and one (funny!!) on the top. (see pictures below for more on that)
  • is climbing up all over stuff and pulls himself up super easy.
  • is constantly figuring out his balance and what he can climb up against and what will not support him and what just seems "not so safe".
  • is able to get down from what he has climbed up against fairly gracefully (most of the time)
  • has learned that going down the stairs on your own is not very safe.  He seems to get it now and seems to know to avoid that particular danger.
  • enjoys eating now - his favorites are yogurt and cereal (pablum) and cheerios. He likes some fruits and veggies but still has a very strong look of displeasure at others!
  • gets a lot of loving from Karter - sometimes this is great, other times it is just rather annoying.
  • sleeps decently during the day - better at home than on the go now. Sleeping on the go doesn't work quite as good b/c he wakes up pretty easy. I would say he is a very light sleeper and I always do my best tiptoeing when entering/exiting the room where he sleeps.
  • knows what he wants and isn't afraid to show a little temper if he has it taken away from him.
  • doesn't love his exersaucer and jolly jumper so much any more. He would rather be on the go and have his freedom.
  • loves people from a distance -- but if they get too close and seem like they might take him away from what is familiar, he will get a little sad look and look scared.  This is not the case with everyone, but the little pout makes it's appearance every now and then.
  • seems to love home and what is familiar.
  • plays really well with toys, books, or whatever happens to be lying around.
  • loves pens and pencils.
  • loves the bath and if we have time it is fun to just let him enjoy it!
  • has ever growing hair! I have had to cut parts of it by his ears already and he can be pretty fuzzy sometimes! It is not as blond as Kade and Karter were though . . .
He doesn't mind the grass at all. On the warmer days, he is quite happy to be outside exploring.
This is quite the smile eh?!!
Mom is definitely his favorite person . . .with dad as a close second.

Enjoying a happy moment with Kevin.
Kevin is always bemoaning the fact that Konnor doesn't like him at all.
Now for more on the teeth.  He has just one lonely tooth on the top and it is not one of the two middle ones. It is the fang one.  I had been thinking to myself that this onesie wouldn't really work for most kids b/c it is a 12 months size and says "Hockey Player in Training - Look, No Teeth"
I think it actually couldn't work any more perfect than it does right now. His teeth actually kind of resemble some hockey players who have random teeth here and there:)

So proud of himself.
Being goofy!
Enjoying a sunny day outside.

Love this boy!

Thanksgiving!

The idea of camping thanksgiving weekend was there  . . . ever since family camping in August. But we didn't book anything b/c we wanted to play things by ear and wait for the weather forecast and see what our schedules were looking like. So the week before, the weather was looking good and the schedules not quite as good.  We were hoping to work on our landscaping thanksgiving weekend . . . but who could resist camping when the weather was so nice. That is when Carrie suggested at the very least, just camping in her yard. And that is what happened! I did not take a picture of our campsite, but this is the communal fire (that ate two of our good lawnchairs) and the camper in the background is Steve and Kate's site:) Ours is right where I am standing.
We didn't pull in til Saturday afternoon, but we had a great little weekend. The kids had a blast with each other and it was just a really nice time.
These girls get serious cases of giggles. You can only imagine where the milk in Anna's mouth ended up . . . or the giggles that ensued after that!
Thankfully they have Meika to keep them in line!
Volleyball, baseball, and spikeball were enjoyed . . .
 Trampolining .  . . and tricks.
Karter inviting Kyra in .. . or not!
Konnor enjoying his time on the grass :)
On Monday we went to Deer Creek which is a beautiful little campground right down the road. The colours were great and it was such a nice day!
These girls were not overly enthused about having a picture.
 Good thing Kyra was :)
 Karter, Kyra and Aunt Carrie
We tried NUMEROUS sister pictures.  Some worked. Some didn't. We had fun anyway running from the camera/self timer to the pose and back and forth and back and forth.
Not sure why that blade of grass had to hop in this picture . . .
THIS is what these girls wanted to be doing. Playing in/by the water and exploring.
 Me and my little boys.
So pretty! What a mighty God we serve!
Me and my big boy Kev. (Kade was home helping Jonathan again)
  Konnor loved the leaves.
Jer - after he nearly broke his ankle twice trying to climb out on a lying tree branch which over hung nothing.
The happy (most of them) group.  A few were losing their good cheer at this point:)
I think we got it in this one!! (thanks Kev for helping us out) Too bad Melly was missing.
Good times. Good fellowship. Good food. Good families.
We have so much to be thankful for. So many blessings.
To God be the glory, great things He has done and continues to do.

September Randoms

So I am falling far behind and thought I 'd do a quick randoms post to catch up a bit, so here is the rest of September in pictures!
We went to Clovermead with the ladies from church . . .actually the older kids were in school so it was just Karter, Konnor, and I.  You get a very different (in a good way) taste of Clovermead when you do it at your 3 year old's speed. It was nice!

I like the intent looks on the three boys faces. (the pictures are taken through two sets of screens so not real clear, but you can still see their interest!)

Karter  at home
Karter with the white cat. We have two cats right now and interestingly enough neither has a name.  It's almost like we are preparing to not get too attached.
Karter and Cita (sounds like Seata)

Karter and Konnor playing

Jonathan was preparing lettering for his work truck and parts of the stickers made excellent finger nails. We had fun with this!

Karter too . . .
Kade played in his first soccer tournament . . .no wins . . but he had fun and learned things. They will be virtually the same team next year, so they should be well prepared then!!

We had a tea party shower for Emily . .
Everyone was looking good . . . :)

Emily and Kate dressed up as Emily and Evan for one of the games.
And that finished off September.
