Port Burwell With Mike and Jenn:)

Our annual camping trip with Mike and Jenn happened June 15-18. This year we ended up at Port Burwell, because of it closeness to home.  Emily had a graduation celebration on the Saturday afternoon, so camping at Port Burwell allowed their family to go back and forth with ease.
Our kids had a P.D day on the Friday, so we were able to head out right after lunch.  We did the beach Friday after we were set up and Saturday too.  Both days were fabulous beach days and the water was lovely. I know because I went in both days:) (maybe even more than once . . . though I must admit it was a while ago and I don't remember exactly;))

 Kade enjoying the warm sand.
 Ashley:)
 Soccer on the beach.
 Ian burying Kade
 Jonthan and Karter
Kevin, Kade, Kylie, and Jordan with the sand creation the person in front of us made.  It was pretty magnificent! (we thought he was just making a spot to sit the whole time, and then when he left, the kids noticed the alligator part!)

 Karter
Fishing.  What can I say.  The kids (Kade especially) REALLY wanted to go fishing.  A LOT!!  I think Kade asked over 30 times on Friday night and maybe another 15 on Saturday morning before they left.  They went off the pier - and caught nothing - just like we predicted . . . but at least they got to go fishing! (we told them over and over that Port Burwell wasn't a real fishing place . . . but they had other ideas)
 Bathtime for Karter!
Kids doing the dishes:)  (as kids we never minded doing the dishes when we were at camp, so I thought maybe my kids would feel the same way . . . they assured me that they didn't . . .but they did the dishes anyway:))
Jenn made a lovely cake and brought it back from Emily's grad picnic.
 I guess it was good!!
Boys seeking revenge . . .

                            Kade enjoying the campfire   . . .
Campfires are a highlight for us adults too.  After the kids are in bed, its when we get to relax and talk and enjoy eachothers conversation and company!

Other fun things that happened - biking, putting chains back on bikes over and over again (oh ya . .  that wasn't the fun part . . .since then we have gotten new bikes), playing at the park, taking walks, suppers together, hiding out in the trailer during the Sunday evening downpour (another we could have done without, but are getting rather used to - it being our family and Port Burwell after all), coffee and snacks, and just relaxing a bit.  Another great weekend in June.

Soccer 2012

Another soccer season is well underway . . . .
We are only out two nights this year which has its pros and cons.  Because Kevin and Kade play the same night, it saves a trip out and frees up a night at home, BUT . . . I can only watch one at a time and it seems like they are always playing on complete opposite sides of the park.  I generally watch each one for half . . . but I feel like I miss a lot!!!  It seems like when I get over to their field, it is their turn to sit off and I don't get to see a lot of them playing.  I miss that!  I love watching them play.
Kevin is still our most passionate soccer player and does really well. He is intense, but not near as intense as he used to be. Winning/losing doesn't seem to matter so much lately which is great.  He goes out and has fun and doesn't seem to get nearly as frustrated as he used to.  We are proud of his progress in this area!!
Then there is Kade.  Kade loves soccer and is excited to go every week. He started out with a bang and his first night had a goal and I thought that "this is the year!"  Since then he has seemed to settle into his mould a bit more.  Last game, I headed over to watch him for the second half, and there he was, doing karate motions in the field - in his own little world.  When he has the ball he is intense and driven, but it seems to be turned on and off rather rapidly. Rather humorous.  He is very different than Kevin, but stlll fun to watch.
 His smile is a bit forced I'd say . . .

This is more Kade's style for a picture!

Kylie also LOVES going to soccer.  She also started out with a bang, but then her play levelled out a bit. She scores goals and has great ball control most of the time, but she looks very nervous on the field. Her hand is always in her mouth and she waits on the fringes for the ball to escape the pack and then she takes off. She needs to work on her defense a bit more . . . but I guess she is only 5:)

She likes playing goalie and is quite good at it too!
 Breakaway!
Playing against Summer . . . yep Kylie is her fathers daughter!
(check out her tongue)

This season has been rather unique - lots of cancellations - I think three weeks have been cancelled already and not because of rain - because of the HEAT!!!  My boys are never too thrilled at the cancellations - they figure its not THAT hot!!!
Great summer fun!!

COPA - 2012

So this year, Kevin and Kade got to do COPA for Kids . . . . not just once . . . but twice!!
First in St.Thomas . . .
Here they flew together in this plane:
I feel like I can totally tell that that is Kade looking out the back window!
 Up, Up, and away!
And 15-20 minutes later they return!
Some of the highlights were doing the "bumps in the road" (something that was a huge favorite of mine when I was a kid!), seeing "lego men soccer players", seeing all the pools, roads, and cars.

And the 9:30am hotdogs and coke.  YUM??!!

Then two weeks later we went to Tillsonburg and since Mel lives so close, she came over with the kids to watch and keep me company . . . which was nice b/c we (Kevin and Kade) DID have to wait in line this time!
They split up and each went in a two seater.
Kevin

And Kade heading out to his plane . . .
And away he went. Kade's was an amphibian plane I believe (land and water) which he thought was pretty cool!
And then back on solid ground.  Their flights here were closer to 1/2 hour!

So that was two fun Saturday mornings in June! Kylie and Tim got to spend their waiting time in a bouncy tent, so the waiting was not a big deal and Ky got to have something fun of her own.
