Another Field Trip

Our second field trip of the week was with our own homeschooling group and brought us first of all to Skah-Nah-Doht Indian village. The kids learned about how things were done many years ago and got to touch and try on and try different aspects of the way the Indians lived. My children really enjoyed the village, though they were disappointed that they didn't get to see any Indians the way they imagine Indians:)
Kade dressed up in some Indian garb.

Trying out some of the games Indian children may have played.

Kylie too . . . .
Kevin with a big bear skin.
The kids listening as life in a longhouse is explained.

We had lunch at the Indian village and then were off down the road to Circle R Ranch.
What a beautiful property and fun things for the kids to do. They got to ride the ponies/horses, take a tractor drawn hayride and visit the petting zoo area.
Listening as some animal facts are explained.
Kylie getting ready to ride her pony. She was very excited about it all. I never knew she was an animal lover until this day. Although she loves the kittens, I just assumed she would be scared of big animals like horses, goats, sheep etc. But she loved it. Time for a trip to Opas barn I think!

Doesn't she look like a natural!?!
And Kade's turn.
This picture cracks me up. Apparently Kade wanted the horse to get a move on it and start galloping!

And Kevin. The kids had to take whichever horse was in line when it was their turn. Kevin and Kade both got the littlest one (Skittles) and Kylie ended up with the tall/big one (Chester). Kind of funny. (Side note: Jenn was in her element I think . . . I'm just waiting to hear that she now is the proud owner of a horse in her backyard;)

More listening and learning . . .

Getting a turn to pet the big wooly sheep.
Lily
Cute little thing;)

But that didn't scare Kylie either . . .

Another beautiful day in terms of weather. Another very fun day for the kids. Lots of new things to learn and experience. Thanks to Lynne for her organizing. We had a great day with a great group!

  1. It was such a great day - thanks again for driving! You're right, I loved those ponies! So far, Mike is saying no to one in the backyard but I'm working on it:-)
