Port Burwell 2016

No rain. No pain. No gain.
That is the story of this vacation.
NO RAIN!!!! We could hardly believe it.  We actually had not a single drop of rain our entire week. This is the week we without fail get dumped on and end up crowded under the canopy trying to pass the hours away.
No rain is wonderful. It really does make a really wonderful vacation. We had a wonderful week as family and the cousins played together really well too. Weeks on vacation always fly by and even the kids are noticing this trend now!
Summer, Anna, and Kylie with their ponytails and their bikes. These girls had great adventures and have great imaginations. They packed a picnic and headed out for an hour or two to play.  They are pretty self sufficient and have fun making new friends at the park too.
SEVEN BEAUTIFUL BEACH DAYS!!! (and that doesn't even include Sunday). Unlike other years, we did the beach the day we arrived and the day we left because it was just that great.
Konnor loved playing with a shovel and pail and it kept him well occupied.

The visitor to our campsite. I only saw him in the daytime, though I heard him at night a time or two!
The mosquitos were the biggest downside of this vacation and we had a number of funny looking kids at various points throughout the week. Bug spray was our friend.
Uncle Richard brought a Seadoo this year and we had a blast with it. This is where the no pain - no gain part comes in.  If you really want to have the full experience, you need to have a bit of a wild ride, which means you may notice you have a neck the next day. No pain? No gain!

The sand was HOT!! We actually burnt our feet a few times getting to the beach. The lack of a boardwalk made for a carefully calculated trip. I hate sand and shoes/flip flops so I braved (if you want to call it bravery:)) the heat each day. Others were smarter and used footwear. I just had to RUN to save my feet.
Savannah, Blake, Kyra, and Karter playing in the sand.
Hunter, Landon, and Tim - these three boys played so well together all week too. It was fun to watch them hang out and be boys together.

Kyle and Travis spraying Opa with water.
Kyra and Saige collecting and examining shells.
Ella, Karter, and Saige. (Does Karter look excited for this ride?!)
Konnor
Hilde the Zucchini baby. Summer brought this zucchini back to camp with her after church on Sunday.  Hilde was their constant companion for the next few days. She rode bikes, she went to the park, she rode the seadoo, she went to the beach, she got a mouth so she could have a soother, then it became a little more extravagant to the point where she was going to need diapers . . . she was a lot of fun!!

What a wonderful vacation. It is so great to get away - even if it is close to home.  We love being together and sharing this time together. It is so fun to watch the cousins play and become even closer. It is neat to see them use their imaginations and just to see them enjoying God's wonderful creation.
So thank you to this family for another great year.  Thank you for another round of great memories.
