Konnor at 11 Months

It's been a good month for picture taking! I've got quite a collection this month. I'm not sure if that is because he is just so irresistibly cute or maybe because he was sporting a new look . .  or some crazy looks, or maybe because we were stuck inside together and at home a lot.  I'm not sure. I'm just happy at the end of another month to find pictures . . .because they really do change way too fast!!
We started off the month with a haircut.  His back hair was just getting too long and he really does have crazy fine and floaty hair.  It is just so different!!  Anyway, we cut the back with the buzzer and he did okay, but it was a very hasty job and now almost a month later, I feel like I can see that!  He still has crazy hair on top and it is fairly long . . but when it cooperates, it is pretty cute . . .and when it doesn't . . it is pretty funny:)
He is getting around a lot now and has become fairly independent.  He loves to look outside and see if there is anything going on. He like to watch the kitties who often sit right outside this door.
Okay. This kid seriously can pull the best pouts.  Is that not the saddest face?!!! It almost makes me smile every time at just how pathetically sad he looks. After he gives this look he flops to the floor and puts his head down.  He really has the sad "please feel bad for me" look mastered!!

I bought these clothes for Kevin when he was this age and very distinctly remember finding the shirt.  It's funny -- b/c it was such a good find for me at the time, I have a hard time parting with it!
Karter gets a little jealous when Konnor wears the overalls because he thinks Konnor has his barn clothes on and then he wants to put his on too! :)

Konnor spent about a week and half feeling a little off. He had a bit of a cold and really goopy eyes a few days.  I did a lot of holding him and he was just quite a grump.

He still had his happy moments though:)
Then he all of the sudden changed. The last two weeks he has just been super happy and super easy. He plays. He does his own thing. He walks around. He just really doesn't require a lot. It's been really fun and easy.  He goes down for naps well. He eats supper really well (that was the one meal we were still finding he didn't love!).  He is just a real pleasure.  Funny how you can think they are fairly good and then all of the sudden they do this and you realize that they still required a fair bit.

 At 11 months, Konnor:

  • is walking 75 percent of the time. He can now get up without climbing up on something and that has really increased his walking time. He can start where ever and when ever he wants.
  • he plays really well! He loves cars and other things with wheels. He seems to really like it in the basement when the other kids are down there. He will sit in the middle or edge of the hockey area and just take it all in. I rarely hear a peep from him when he is down there!
  • he is really starting to babble. He doesn't really say any words, but it sounds like he says "Hi" and "Hey" and then just likes making noises to get some attention.
  • can wave . . . usually to copy one of us.
  • is eating really well. He loves kale! We had kale stomput one night and he devoured it! He ate the leftovers for the next two nights too. He also likes spaghetti, potatoes, macaroni and more.  He does well with toast and still loves his yogurt and pablum.
  • wakes up a little too happy in the morning. He will kind of wake up with a cry and then once he realizes we are getting up he will sit up and just beam and chatter.  It is joyful:)
  • thinks a lot of things are funny. It's not to hard to get him to smile or laugh.
  • is napping quite well. He usually takes two naps a day - not real long - usually about an hour and a half.  I suppose he shall join the ranks with the rest of the siblings and just not require a lot of sleep.
  • is getting so easy that I feel fairly comfortable leaving him home with the boys (and Kylie) for short periods of time. I usually incorporate sleep time into my calculations.  It makes running to town for an hour or two a whole lot easier!
  • has a bit of a temper. He knows what he wants and is not afraid to show his displeasure at not getting it.
  • takes a fair bit of abuse from Karter. Karter is sometimes just mean to him. He's a pretty tough little cookie and is fairly gracious.
  • is extremely wiggly and squirmy when I change and dress him.
  • hates wearing a hat. I'm glad it hasn't been too cold this winter b/c he cries the whole time he has to wear it.
  • got his first significant haircut.
  • if he has his soother in his mouth when his food comes, he will chuck the soother really quick.
  • loves rolling/throwing a ball with someone, or chasing it around himself.
  • is probably a mommy's boy, but daddy is a very close second.

Karter REALLY wanted to go outside one day and go "sliding". So I finally relented and bundled up Konnor as well. He was not initially impressed at all, but once we got moving on the sled, he was all smiles.

(not that there was a whole lot of snow to "slide" in! I had my work cut out for me!)
Here he is on one of his crazy hair days!
 On the move . . .
He already has the basics of hockey down pat.
Karter is enjoying having someone to play with . . .even if  all it  means is constantly stealing the ball from him and never giving it back.  I think that Karter feels like he is quite justified in doing it too . . .b/c it is how Kevin and Kade play with him sometimes.

We sure are enjoying this little gaffer. He is just a real pleasure. The kids all seem to be enjoying this stage too. I'll hear them say several times a day, "Oh, he is just so cute". "Look at Konnor!"
It certainly is a fun stage and we are always grateful for the blessing he is to our family!
