Of Boys, Toys, and other Joys

I've always known that boys are quite different than girls, but a day like today really emphasized the fact in my mind. I don't know if too many words are necessary - the pictures tell the story well. The glee on their faces as they whack their hockey sticks with little care to the final demise of the victim is a little worrisome. I can only say -- poor creatures!

Excuse all the jiggling of the video - I didn't care to get too close, and therefore am on a high zoom level which seems to show up a little wobbly. When the boys watched that video, the giggles when the hockey stick whapped down at the end were rather entertaining:)

A day like today - warm, sunny, and long also got me thinking about how thankful I am for certain toys. I thought I'd share my favourites!

Bikes

Both of my boys were riding bikes without training wheels at age 3 and their bikes are one thing that don't lay around collecting dust. Although space is somewhat limited on our driveway, they ride every day. We like to take them to trails when we get the chance so they can have a bit more space and because they love it so much and ask rather often "to go for a bike ride".

I took them into town this morning where they had the opportunity to get a brand new helmet and get it fitted to them. Our fitter was none other than Elizabeth!

My second favorite toy is the sandbox. The boys will spend hours here, and even Kylie hops in and gets dirty.

The trampoline, although new, has not lost any of its appeal. A favorite is putting the sprinkler below and cooling off at the same time.

So there are the boys and some of their toys, and as for the joys . . . . I think the boys and the toys just about cover it.

. . . . but of course we can't forget Kylie!

  1. I think I need to get a sandbox, the girls would love it I think! Matt and I'd love to get together with you and John...now that we're living closer to each other.
