This month was an exciting one for Konnor. In it he became an international traveler and expert car seat sitter. Is it fair that your five month old gets to first experience the east coast of Canada the same time as his mother??!! I guess I have the advantage of remembering it, while for him it will be just be something the pictures say he experienced and enjoyed.
Perhaps the least favorite part of the vacation was the mosquitos. Here he is with his many bites. Even that didn't seem to dim his joy and he was happy as ever.
He did excellent (amazing really) during our many hours in the van. He is a real trooper!
He enjoyed his beach experience in PEI too. We made a hole in the sand for him to rest in under the umbrella
He took some time out to nap as well which was handy!
He seemed to like the sand and the water was okay once he got used to it a bit.
Kevin was playing with him one day and chattering away to him with him and holding him way up high and you can guess what happened! Konnor spit up and some made it right into Kev's mouth, down his face, down his shirt etc. Kev was a pretty good sport and I had a pretty good laugh!
At five months:
- He is rolling back and forth frequently. He often gets that last arm stuck underneath him which leaves him a bit perturbed. He doesn't love it on his tummy yet, so rolling over doesn't seem to be in his best interests, yet he can't seem to resist.
- He also is really loving toys now. He will reach for them and play with them as long as they are within his reach. This is so fun to see.
- He is still fascinated with his hands and his feet now too. It is funny to watch him stare at his hand and then try to grab it with his other hand so he can put it in his mouth. Once in a while he gets his thumb in his mouth and will be content to suck on it . . .but the soother is still preferred.
- He still doesn't get a lot of sleep in the day. He is a short napper - rarely over an hour. He sleeps really well at night but does still wake up a time or two to be fed.
- We brought up the exersaucer a week ago and he is loving that! So many fun toys on it and he seems to love being in the upright position. He does get tired though and so his time in it is never too long yet. Right now we have Konnor stuff all over the house - bumbo, bouncy chair, exersaucer, carseat.. Babies sure do come with a lot of equipment!
- He is still enjoying the bumbo, but can almost push himself right out, so we have to be careful with it or make sure we use the belt.
- Still no teeth! Yay. (but lots of drool so I'm sure they are coming!) I'm hoping they take their time!
- Weighs in at 14lbs 14oz! (on the 22nd)
- Had his 4 month needles and smiled through the first one, but couldn't hold on to it for the second one . . .but recovered quickly and had more smiles by the time we left.
- Konnor loves people. He is rarely sad if someone is paying attention to him. He loves to be talked to and smiled at - and will give just about anyone a smile - sometimes before they even have a chance to try to coax one out of him.
- He does this funny thing where he sucks on his bottom lip or tongue or something. He also is pretty good at blowing spit bubbles.
- He can get pretty noisy and raise his voice pretty good if he feels neglected or just wants attention.
- His hair is coming in a bit more . . . so soft and fuzzy.
- Still wakes up with huge smiles. He is so fun in the morning!
- Sits up in his car seat. You know how they are supposed to lie back all relaxed? He does sometimes, but he often will pull himself up and sit up and look around. It doesn't look very comfortable, but he doesn't seem to mind.
- his feet are often kicking and they do the bicycle movement quite nicely
- loves grabbing at my face and especially my glasses if I happen to be wearing them!
- still resembles Kade?!
- gets tons of kisses
- is extremely well loved!
